Exotic image formation in strong gravitational lensing by clusters of galaxies – II. Uncertainties

چکیده
Due to the finite amount of observational data, best-fit parameters corresponding reconstructed cluster mass have uncertainties. In turn, these uncertainties affect inferences made from models. Following our earlier work, we studied effect such on singularity maps in simulated and actual galaxy clusters. The models for both real clusters been constructed using grale. final created grale give simplest a lower limit number point singularities that lens has offer. simple nature also puts three image (tangential radial) arcs has. Hence, estimate sources giving rise arcs, which can be observed with James Webb Space Telescope (JWST). We find expect observe at least 20-30 tangential 5-10 radial three-image Hubble Frontier Fields lenses JWST.

Cosmological constraints from strong gravitational lensing in clusters of galaxies.
Current efforts in observational cosmology are focused on characterizing the mass-energy content of the universe. We present results from a geometric test based on strong lensing in galaxy clusters. Based on Hubble Space Telescope images and extensive ground-based spectroscopic follow-up of the massive galaxy cluster Abell 1689, we used a parametric model to simultaneously constrain the cluster...

We present an estimation of the expected number of arcs and arclets in a sample of nearby (z < 0.1) clusters of galaxies, that takes into account the magnitude limit of the Visiting Astronomer at Cerro Tololo Inter-American Observatory. CTIO is operated by AURA, Inc. under contract to the National Science Foundation.
متن کاملKinematic effect in gravitational lensing by clusters of galaxies
Gravitational lensing provides an efficient tool for the investigation of matter structures, independent of the dynamical or hydrostatic equilibrium properties of the deflecting system. However, it depends on the kinematic status. In fact, either a translational motion or a coherent rotation of the mass distribution can affect the lensing properties. Here, light deflection by galaxy clusters in...
متن کاملGravitational lensing by elliptical galaxies
The fraction of high-redshift sources which are multiply-imaged by intervening galaxies is strongly dependent on the cosmological constant, and so can be a useful probe of the cosmological model. However its power is limited by various systematic (and random) uncertainties in the calculation of lensing probabilities, one of the most important of which is the dynamical normalisation of elliptica...
متن کاملGravitational Lensing of Distant Field Galaxies by Rich Clusters: II. Cluster Mass Distributions
We construct a photometric catalogue of very faint galaxies (I < ∼ 25.5) using deep CCD images taken with the 4.2m William Herschel telescope taken of fields centred on two distant X-ray luminous clusters: 1455+22 (zcl = 0.26) and 0016+16 (zcl = 0.55). Using a non-parametric procedure developed by Kaiser & Squires (1993), we analyse the statistical image distortions in our samples to derive two...
